Our mission is to empower individuals to embrace a "victim to victor" mindset through the creative and unique programming we offer. With this vision in mind, we are determined to reshape Kensington's narrative, transforming it from the 'Walmart of Heroin' to a place renowned as the capital of healing. This is our collective dream and mission, and with your help, we can make it a reality.
Show the world you stand with small nonprofits as we move into the future!
We provide services at no cost to our program participants., with no-cost to low-cost housing initiatives, providing recovery housing to the homeless population of men and women who are active drug users living on the streets or returning from residential treatment or incarceration, regardless of our clients’ time commitment or financial means. We have strategic partnerships with esteemed organizations for counseling and therapy, to on-site job opportunities. We extend a warm welcome to individuals, regardless of resources, identification, or insurance.
Embracing a "victim to victor" mindset, we stand resolute in our commitment to transforming adversity into victory. In its day-to-day operations, First Stop is run by a small group. Frank, who recently passed away, was dedicated to helping people get better. He was there round the clock, helping others beat addiction. His wife Alice, who everyone calls "Mom," has stepped up to run the program since Frank's passing. Dr. Tony helps on weekends. Richard and Fred, who have been through the program and are now sober, pitch in about twenty hours a week. Bonnie is our financial expert, making sure we have enough money to keep the organization going. Arlynn is our connector communicator of vision.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
